Not all research data is pretty to look at, so we built a mapping tool for Matthew Witt of the Environmental and Sustainability Institute at the University of Exeter.

Matt has a huge collection of marine data that is logged with GPS coordinates, pictures, videos and sound recordings, so it was an ideal candidate for plotting onto a map.

How it works

Our database back-end allows researchers to upload datasets where our system will automatically process them for display on the website

We use a standard called GeoJSON to tell our mapping system how and where to plot data

Layer Features

We have tag and link detection allowing us to embed video and images onto different map layers

How Can Switch Systems Help You?

Make your research more explorable - we can help bring your data to a wider audience using interactive real-time visualisations, spatial mapping and mashups with other sets of open data.
